Post two consecutive successful events, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) and Sarangkheda Committee organizes The Sarangkheda Chetak Festival 2018-19 celebrating the rich legacy of age-old horse festival. The festival was inaugurated on 12th December 2018 by Shri Jaykumar Rawal, Tourism Minister- Government of Maharashtra, Shri Madan Yerawar, State Tourism Minister- Government of Maharashtra in the presence of Taisaheb Smt. Nayankumar Rawal, President, Dandaicha Municipality and will go on till 8th January 2109. The festival witnesses various breeds and different kind of horses which become a horse lover’s delight.
Sarangkheda Chetak Festival is one the oldest horse fairs in the country. This festival has attracted horse traders and buyers from various parts of the country including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and across boundaries such as Afghanistan, Baluchistan and Saudi Arabia. Apart from that, the visitors can also explore the tent city with different kind of activities such as tent pegging, show jumping, horse dancing show, horse racing, quad biking, paint ball, archery, star gazing, horse trail ride and safari to name a few.
A prehistoric fair of horses has now become a month-long celebration held in the picturesque district of Northern Maharashtra on the banks of Tapi river. The aim is to exhibit the art, culture and several facades of the district. To promote this festival at an international platform, the organizers have also associated with TripXOXO the online booking platform for things to do activities and to provide the information for tourists across the globe.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri. Jaykumar Rawal, Minister of Tourism & (EGS), Government of Maharashtra, “The objective of the fair is to create a niche for itself on the global podium. Together, the Department of Tourism and MTDC are optimistic to take this festival to newer heights. Sarangkheda Festival is an ideal platform to attract tourists nationally as well as internationally. I am happy to be a part of this festival celebrating the rich culture and heritage. Nandurbaug district has immense scope to boost tourism and we envisage to get maximum footfalls through the Sarangkheda Chetak Festival. From horse shows to sports to dance performances, the festival is going to be grand. We are constantly trying to innovate and identify newer ways to enhance tourism and adventure tourism is growing, which has the potential to allure large number of travellers. In times to come, I am confident that Nandurbar district will create a position for itself in the state making it a suitable holiday destination.”
The Sarangkheda Chetak Festival 2018 is overall a festival of speed, energy and glamour a festival for all. This year the festival is back filled with more energizing entertaining events for all age groups across the country and worldwide.
